Merry Christmas! We’ve been reading this book and joyfully counting down the days til the Savior comes! I’m so grateful that He entered into the mess of our world to love us. What a Savior he is!
Things have been quiet around here. Blogging has taken a backseat in the last few weeks, and we’re thrilled to announce that we are expecting a little blessing in July!
What a year it’s been!
A miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy, and now (what appears to be) a healthy pregnancy. The Lord has been good to us! I’m a little over 9 weeks, and have had several ultrasounds and much testing to confirm that this baby is in the right spot (ectopic pregnancies tend to be repeated), and growing normally.
With my track record, it’s a little difficult to share something like this. What if something happens? We’re not out of the dark, yet, are we? etc. etc.
But then I remember this is my style.
Keepin’ it real.
You were here for miscarriages #1 and #2. You stuck around when I confessed I’m a hypochondriac, and that my house is abysmally decorated (update: it’s been painted!!!).
This is real life, folks, as it happens.
And side note, I’m grateful to have as many of my friends and readers praying for this little one (Sam and Ty are convinced it’s a sister) as possible. We rest in his hands. He has been so faithful, every single step. Not for a moment has he left us!
So what does this mean for the blog?
I am GRATEFUL to be feeling very sick, and very pregnant. I’ve been taking it easy. 🙂 I still contribute monthly for three of my favorite sites: Stacy Makes Cents, Keeper of the Home, and The Better Mom.
Here on the home front, things might be a little quieter than normal. In my head I’ve felt imaginary grace from all my readers – faces I know and don’t. I just know you all don’t want me yacking and sprinting to my computer to transcribe a cauliflower casserole recipe now, do you?
Thanks. I didn’t think so.
Among my other failings:
- Apparently I am the only church-going, social person in the free world who has not sent out Christmas cards. Just didn’t happen. I know, I know. It’s deplorable, and wrong, and I am so, so ashamed of myself.
- I routinely make my husband go to fast-food places to get me something to eat because honest-to-goodness, I promise I will throw up if I eat anything other than (for one example) a hot dog (ON A TOASTED BUN, NOT SOGGY) Now. Please and thank you. I have such a good man. 🙂
- I’m an avid, conscientious meal-planner. Normally. These days…people are still eating, but it’s not my best work. See above.
- Laundry day is Monday. This means I do laundry on Monday, and stare at baskets of unfolded clothes the six other days. Really great plan, don’t you think?
And you get the point!
Thanks for being such wonderful readers, and Merry, Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Congrats! Pray that this pregnancy goes smoothly and you feel better soon! My daughter tried her first frozen pizza when I was pregnant with baby number 2. Those first months were rough.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
P.S. I didn’t send out cards either.
