"Smartter" Each Day

Be A Different Kind Of Mom

Spring Giveaway – Local, Farm-Raised Pork & Beef, CSA Produce!

By jessica 28 Comments

I could not be more ready to kick this awful March to the curb and begin a warm and fun spring. We have had a very rough couple of weeks around here (which I might get to in a later post) but I had scheduled our spring giveaway for this week. Two readers are going to get some great prizes!

The first prize comes to us from Carolyn at Natural Spring Farms . From their website: “We raise free-range chickens without any form of containment, free range chicken and duck eggs, pasture raised pork, and grain finished beef.  None of our animals receive steroids or growth hormones and our produce is free of pesticides.”

Music to the ears, right?! But what does it taste like??

Amazing!

My sister found this farm and bought pork, sausage and beef initially. All of it is so delicious. Truly, the sausage is probably the best sausage I’ve ever had! I just love serving my family such delicious meat that is much, much healthier than the store alternative, and from a wonderful local family farm.

Carolyn has generously submitted a bunch of these products for one winner on Smartter Each Day. The contest is open to anyone who can pick up the products in the general Charlotte, NC vicinity. Here is the first prize:

  • pack of ground beef
  • pack of NY strip steaks (2)
  • pack of sausage
  • pack of pork chops
  • one dozen eggs

Wow, right?!? I sure wish I could win this!

Readers will receive an extra entry for this contest by registering on the Natural Spring Farms website here.

The second prize comes to us from our local Community-Supported Agriculture, which is called Know Your Farms. Basically, CSAs helps us eat food from local farms. I am a firm believer in supporting these farms. Like the bumper sticker says, “No Farms, No Food.” (Find one near you.)

I joined the local CSA produce co-op last fall. I ordered a small basket every other week, so I would drive to my local farm and pick up my “share.” I loved getting to experiment with local produce that I have never tried and probably wouldn’t have bought.

For this giveaway, one winner will receive two small shares  (two week’s worth of produce). Pickup locations include the following:

  • Huntersville, Earthfare
  • Concord
  • Southpark
  • Davidson
  • Highland Creek
  • Cornelius
  • Dilworth
  • and a few others

To enter this contest:

  • Comment below: What’s your favorite summer dish?
  • Like “Smartter Each Day” on Facebook, or subscribe to receive email updates.
  • Like Natural Spring Farms on FB, and like Know Your Farms on Facebook (for those with FB accounts)
  • FOR BONUS ENTRY: register on the Natural Spring Farms website.

*Please leave a comment to verify that you have liked/subscribed.

Good luck! Contest ends Friday morning and winners will be contacted via email that day.

I cannot wait for summer to return so I can enjoy fresh, cold salads!! Winter just doesn’t allow me to enjoy cold foods as much so I’ve been cooking most of my veggies! I’m looking forward to leafy greens, topped with cucumbers, boiled eggs, chick peas, tomatoes, avocado and zucchini!!
