I have an interesting story about this book. First, I was scared of it.
Another blogger was hosting a giveaway for this book: “Find Joy In the Journey: How 12 Women Could Face Tomorrow Because He Lives.” Basically, 12 women who went through horrible things (adoption heartbreak, illness, marriage issues, etc) tell their stories of how they found joy and hope in the journey.
Frankly, I wasn’t sure I wanted to read this book.
Did I really want to hear from these women? Would the stories just make me fearful and depressed?
This giveaway had multiple entries (you could “like” different things on Facebook, and comment, and tweet, etc., for extra chances to win).
Well, I just did one little measly entry.
I just wasn’t too sure I wanted to win this. I said a little prayer while typing…something like: “God, if you want me to read this book, let me win. And if not, I’m not buying it.”
Well wouldn’t you guess it.
I won.
And what a treat. I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t depressed. There was one word that kept coming into my head as I would finish each story:
Triumphant.
These women were conquerors. And their God was strong, and good.
I heartily recommend this book – not only to moms, or worriers. These stories deserve to be heard by many.
I’m thrilled to be giving away my own copy of the book, free, today to a reader.
And the rest of you…if you don’t win, don’t take it as a sign you’re “not supposed” to read this book. Because here’s your real sign: If you want to read this book, you should. It’s great; I promise!
The Ebook is available for $4.99 and can be downloaded and viewed on your computer, iphone, ipad, ipod, Kindle, or Nook.
To enter the giveaway, like “Smartter” Each Day on Facebook if you haven’t, and/or leave a blog comment answering the question, “What’s a recent book you’ve read?”
Good luck!

Wait. That’s not what I read. I read Lt. Col. David Grossman’s other book: On Combat. It wasn’t lovely. But it was interesting.

I recently read Gaining Ground by Forrest Pritchard. Excellent book…..just loved every single page! It is the story of a young college grad who set out to save his family’s farm. Great farming memoir.

I recently read a book called Seven Years Between, it’s about an aunt (Carol) I never knew about until the author (her daughter) found my dad (Carol’s half brother). It’s a great book that talks about her life without her dad.
