Awhile ago I posted on my Facebook page an update about my son’s allergies. I was overwhelmed by the prayers and concern for him, even though so many of you don’t even know us!
Just to recap, he has been allergic since infancy to egg, milk, and peanuts. Most likely, he will never outgrow his peanut allergy. The doctor’s opinion is that he has a fairly good chance of not outgrowing milk, either. We are strongly considering a desensitization program for milk – these are clinical trials – not officially approved yet – where they slowly feed you more and more of an allergen until you can handle large amounts. There are plenty of risks involved, but also lots of success stories. We have to wait for an opening in a program before this is an option.
So the egg allergy…I had a hunch his egg allergy was low, and I was right. His number are low enough to trial baked egg…AND WE ARE DOING THAT TODAY (TUESDAY).
It was so weird to make muffins…with egg…to feed my egg-allergic son.
I am grateful for prayers for a safe and successful morning. My son is constantly hungry, and I sure would love to be able to include baked egg products in his diet. I know the Lord will take care of us either way, as he constantly has before.
If you’re curious about updates on his test, be sure to follow me on Facebook or Instagram, as I might share there first. Thanks again for following Sam’s story!

That is so exciting! Praying all goes well Tuesday and he gets the green light to keep eating baked egg! My family is on a similar journey so I can well understand your anticipation and excitement! My 4 year old is allergic to milk, soy, & peanuts (she had anaphylaxis to milk at 6 months old). My 6 year is also allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. My 4 year old’s numbers dropped in her last blood test and they want to retest 6 months later. I know there’s no guarantees, but I can hardly contain my excitement over the thought of her outgrowing even one allergy, especially milk, or at least tolerate it baked. She has a host of other health and developmental problems, it would be amazing to have one less thing to worry about. I hope your son (and your whole family!) receives good news at his challenge!
