Confession: I have never (never) worked out while I was pregnant. For someone who previously ran half-marathons and likes to be active, this is unusual.
What’s my deal?
In a nutshell, when I’m pregnant, I’m too tired, too busy, and have no clue how to work out well. So I just don’t!
But this pregnancy is different. I’m working out, y’all! Here are my two secret reasons:
- I want natural childbirth (for the first time). I want the stamina, the breathing practice, the endurance that comes from being in shape.
- My sweet sister-in-law is getting married three weeks before my due date. I want to do everything in my power to be healthy, active, and not a big fat tub of lard on this wedding, which, Lord willing, I will attend.
I’ve been doing various workouts this pregnancy (free ones on youtube, walking, etc.) but I’m so glad to have recently discovered Fit2B Workouts for Moms.
It is the best!
I *met* the creator, Beth, through a blogging group we are members of, and agreed to review Fit2B here on Smartter Each Day.
What is Fit2B?
Fit2B is a paid subscription site with nearly 70 workouts accessible at any time (view these workouts all here). It’s like buying 70 workout videos, or having a gym membership where any class you can dream up is available whenever you walk through the door.
How much does it cost?
I think Fit2B is a terrific bargain, and I’m a cheapskate. Clients can pay $9.99 monthly, or $99.00 a year (about $8 a month). As I said, I received free membership as compensation for this review, but when my subscription is over, I definitely see myself paying to renew.
I ravaged the “free” internet workout world extensively. It was hard to find ones that are :
a) long enough to be worth the time
b) legitimate, qualified workouts
Beth’s Fit2B workouts are quality, extensive workouts, and she is absolutely a qualified professional who understands women’s health and bodies.
Sure, you can purchase exercise videos or gym memberships. But I love the ease of having so many videos on hand, in my home, any time. Even if I had a gym membership, I think I’d still enjoy having access to these videos for the off-days at home.
These videos cover nearly everything.
Here are a few examples:
- Mommy & me workouts (for you and your infant)
- Maternity mixes (I’ve been loving these! It’s awesome to know that the workouts I’m doing are safe specifically for pregnant women.)
- Basic Aerobics
- “Insane” advanced workouts
I like Beth because she is down-to-earth, yet knowledgeable. She is calming and thoughtful, without being New-Age-y. (Know what I mean?)
If you’ve been wanting a different way to work out, if you need some safe, guided workouts just for women, if you have been struggling to fit in your daily workouts, then Fit2B is for you.
One final note that may really apply to some of you – Beth’s area of emphasis is Diastasis Recti.
What in the world is Diastasis Recti?
My very unscientific definition is when you still look pregnant, but you’re not pregnant. Aka the “pooch” that doesn’t go away. Maybe you can relate to this? Perhaps you know someone who struggles with this problem?
You may not even realize that there’s a name for this! Well, there is! And Beth specializes in healing diastasis recti, and also in preventing it by strengthening the core in pregnant women. She offers very specific workouts for this issue.
